running a browser from the command line...

hi...

i'm trying to determine if it's possible/easy to run a browser from the
command line.. and pipe the output to a file. something like:

\tmp\browser "www.foo.com" >outputfile.tmp

i'm looking for a browser that i might be able to use in this manner...  i
don't need to render the page/images... just the underlying ability to get
the results back from a site...

has anybody had any experience with any browser capable of doing
this...?????
