gnome panel problem

The panel was gone a while ago, but I fixed it.
But now I can't save the icons on the gnome panel for user me, the other users can. By save I mean by using save-session the newly created icon doesen't show up again when I login.
I have copied the .gnome dir from an other user . but still it doesn't work. Is there any save panel command or something?
Any ideas?
