Xwindows shuting down video card (maybe monitor)

RHL 7.1 (with RHN Updates)

It seems whenever I try to start X (via startx) 
the monitor kicks out.  Everything runs fine in 
plain text mode.

This is a different monitor, and I was wondering 
if I needed to do something to get XWin to 
re-iterate this other monitor.

Any ideas ?
