ls * problem

I get the same output problem with ls -l *.key as below:
ls: No Match.
The problem i have is that i have a script that looks for files using the *
so it can pick relevant files needed and this is not working because of
this problem.
Any other ideas anybody?

What gives ls -l *.key for exemple ?
