parallel port

Hi,

I want to access the parallel port on my machine (using RedHat 9). I am
using the commands iopl and ioprem before I am using outb and inb, but I can
access the port only with root privileges. How can I do it as a regular
user? Do I have to write a driver? Can I install this function with root
privileges and then any user can use it?
