redhat-config-httpd question

You might look at rpmbuild.  It will create rpm's out of source tarballs, 
if the spec file is created properly.  That way you could download the 
source and use a build script for your boxes that don't have rpm, and 
rpmbuild to create the rpm's for those that do.
