| I think I've discovered the problem... I need to set up a smarthost (so
| sendmail on the hosts forwards emails to "mail" for sending).
|
| We are using sendmail-8.12.5-7 on RedHat 8.0.
|
| Can anyone let me know how to set up a smarthost using what we have?
|
| Thanks,
| Hobbs.

Look for the following line in /etc/mail/sendmail.mc

dnl define(`SMART_HOST',`smtp.your.provider')

~ ...and change it to:

define(`SMART_HOST',`mail.mydomain.com')

Restarting sendmail *should* rebuild a new sendmail.cf file. If it
doesn't, see the instructions at the top of the sendmail.mc file to
manually rebuild a new sendmail.cf file. That's it!
