Sendmail: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): hash map "Alias0": unsafe map file/etc/aliases.db: Permission denied

I received in the sendmail log file the next error:

NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): hash map "Alias0": unsafe map file /etc/aliases.db:
Permission denied
Sep 20 09:11:22 alcala sendmail[9593]: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): Cannot create
database for alias file /etc/aliases

The permission of files are

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root         1343 feb 25  2003 aliases
-rw-r--r--    1 smmsp    smmsp       12288 sep 16 18:47 aliases.db

How can solve this?
