Samba has been updated recently and I'd like to upgrade.

However the RPM binarys appear to be for Redhat 9 and I've only got v8.

Will I do any damage by trying to install a RPM meant for v9 on my Redhat v8
machine?

I'm a bit of a newbie at this.
