Also, it only works if all of your systems have identical architectures.
Throw in a x86_64 and all bets are off.  You would not be the first
person to install the wrong architecture package and end up with a
totally hosed system.

Face it - what you're trying to do is a hack.  It's totally unsupported,
and although it may work most of the time, there is definite room for
error and system hosability.
