NFS Mount 'Permission denied'

Hi,

Last Friday we had a power failure. Upon rebooting computers, I find 2 of 11 can no longer mount directories on my RH 9.0 nfs server (named hbwpe). Before this all were working fine. These 2 machines can nfs mount directories on other machines but not the RH server. One of the directories is named '/scratch'.

Of the 11 machines that can mount /scratch, 8 are HPUX 10.20 machines. One of the machines that can't mount /scratch is also a HPUX 10.20 machine (IP 10.48.10.40) with the same net configuration. The other is a VMS 5.3 machine running Multinet.

After searching previous posts, I've compiled the following config info:

[krauty at hbwpe /]# ls -l
drwxrwxrwx 7 john users 4096 Jun 24 12:27 scratch

[krauty at hbwpe /]# cat /etc/exports
/ *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check)
/scratch *(rw,sync,no_wdelay,no_subtree_check)

[krauty at hbwpe /]# exportfs
/scratch <world>
/ <world>

[krauty at hbwpe /]# rpcinfo -p (portmap, nfs, & mountd are running on both client & server)
   program vers proto port

    150001 2 tcp 802 pcnfsd

On the HPUX machine (IP 10.48.10.40), I've tried specifying nfs versions 2 & 3 with:

# mount -o vers=3 hbwpe:/scratch /scratch
Permission denied

Log messages in /var/log/messages gives me:

  Aug 2 09:06:07 hbwpe rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from 10.48.10.40:786 for /scratch (/scratch)
Aug 2 09:06:07 hbwpe rpc.mountd: getfh failed: Operation not permitted

The RH server can nfs mount directories on the HPUX client.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

John
