Removing logical volumes?

Hello,

I have a RHEL v4 system that was configured using the default Logical
Volumes setup.  That is causing some problems for our backup/recovery
strategy.

Aside from a backup/restore, is there any way to convert the Logical
Volumes into regular partitions?
