How do you check the network speed of a Redhat machine.

I would recommend using the ethtool command to check/set your network
settings if you're using the e1000 module.  Also, unless you're running
at gigabit speed it's best to force your entries as there is substantial
problems with auto-negotiation and several vendor products (Cisco and
Foundry).
