Syslog to remote host, separate file

I haven't -- should it be necessary?

I was under the impression that syslogd was capable of doing it.

Actually, we have it working properly on 1 server as described below but I
can't reproduce it on another client/server configuration.

Have you looked at using syslog-ng?

There's a ton of info that says how to log to a remote host using syslog
(@remotesyslogserver in 2nd field of syslog.conf) but no where will it tell
me how to log that incoming info to a separate file rather than the default
file.

I don't want to mix messages from the remote syslog server and the server
FROM which the messages are being sent.

Can I separate it by host somehow?
