Hi.. I have problem installing MySQL server in my
RedHat Enterprises 3.0 box. It was not installed with
MySQL

I used this command RH#up2date -d -i mysql and it
download the mysql-3.23.58-2.3 from RHN

But when I typed mysql -usa
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

it means my sa password is wrong then what is default
password then ?

or it means I have only the mysql client program? then
how to download the mysql-server from RHN ?

I tried to download the mysql-server rpm package from
www.mysql.com and installed but it gives me the
following error. why?

*********************************************
[root at RH]# rpm -ivh MySQL-server-4.0.23-0.i386.rpm

warning: MySQL-server-4.0.23-0.i386.rpm: V3 DSA
signature: NOKEY, key ID 5072e1f
5
error: Failed dependencies:
MySQL conflicts with mysql-3.23.58-2.3
*********************************************

And when I want to remove the mysql-3.23.58-2.3, I
failed. How to get rid of the loop?

[root at RH]# rpm -e mysql-3.23.58-2.3
error: Failed dependencies:
libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed)
perl-DBD-MySQL-2.1021-3
