I tried it , but unfortunately iostat has no p option here:
[oracle at tanidw1 oracle]$ uname -a
Linux tanidw1 2.4.18-e.37smp #1 SMP Tue Aug 5 16:07:26 EDT 2003 ia64
unknown

how did you perform the iostat command ?
try iostat -p
