[Q] can NOT create boot sector under grub?

I tried to create bootable sector under disk3 and got 
"segment fault".

# grub
Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a
long time.


    GRUB  version 0.93  (640K lower / 3072K upper
memory)

   lists possible command completions.  Anywhere else
TAB lists the possible

grub> root (hd0,0)
 Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

grub> find /grub/stage1
 (hd0,0)
 (hd2,0)

grub> setup (hd2)Segmentation fault



O.S.  is Redhat  AS 3.4 on DELL server.

Any ideal?
