I have 100GB drives in my old TYAN board - it's a 440BX chipset, I believe. I've not tried to put anything bigger in, yet.

Subject: Hard drive size limits for Intel 440BX chipset

Hi all,

Just a quick question. I managed to pick up an old Dell GX100 desktop (small one) from work for £20 and I would like to set it up as a file and web server at home. My only problem is that I don't know what size hard drive the system will take. I've read that it should be 120GB, but Linux may override the BIOS limitation and allow me to use any size IDE drive I can fit in it. Has anyone got any experience with old systems like this and new, large capacity, hard drives? If so, your help would be appreciated.
I'll probably be putting Fedora or CentOS on the system.

Thanks

Andrew
