Problem with latest samba patch and redhat es4

These are not remote shares that I'm mounting; these are local
directories that I'm attempting to share out.

I have had problems in this area when mounting shares as smbfs, rather
than cifs.  I would verify that you are mounting the shares as cifs and
see if the problem persists.
