What makes you think there are official PHP5 binary RPMs for RHEL4?

Fully "up2date" machine:

# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
# rpm -qa|grep ^php-[0-9]
php-4.3.9-3.22

BTW, "registering" your machine only requires the ability to be able to 
establish an outbound HTTPS connection on 443/TCP to Red Hat (or your 
local satellite server, in my case), IIRC.
