Hi
I am not 100% certain myself.
I have config similar to this in our multipath.conf file:
multipaths {
multipath {
wwid 350002ac0xxxxxxx
alias authdb-storage
}
}
This ensures that the "friendly" names found in /dev/mpath and
/dev/mapper always stays the same.
I have personnally used /dev/mapper because that is the "kitchen sink"
for all devices and more generic than using /dev/mpath.
When I then create the lvm stuff it would something like this:
pvcreate /dev/mapper/<alias-name>
I know it is not a definitef answer but do hope it helps. Maybe someone
else with more san expierence and linux internal knowledge can help
clear up the matter.
Regards
