Stephane:

Here is a link to the document to configure the serial port based on operating system

http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00263709/c00263709.pdf

If you use the virtual serial port on linux besure to take note of enabling software flow control (page 8) to prevent you from losing the serial port access after the ilo2 is reset.

Adding boot options is only necessary if you want to see boot time operations via the serial port.

Subject: Configure ilo2 on Redhat

Hello,

I run a Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 box an i am trying to
configure ILO2 to use remote serial console.

I added in /etc/inittab file :

s0:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 115200 ttyS0 vt100 and used init q to reload.

ps -edf|grep getty returns : root 32359 1 0 14:26 ttyS0
00:00:00 /sbin/agetty 115200 ttyS0 vt100

When i connect via ssh or https on ilo port and try VSP or Remote Serial
Console via Java Applet,
i have :

</>hpiLO-> Virtual Serial Port active: IO=0x02F8 INT=3 but no console.

I tried : setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart 16550A port 0x02F8 irq 3 and it
returns :
Cannot set serial info: Device or resource busy

Do i need to modify boot options ?
Any idea ?

Many thanks in advance
