SCSI Hot plug Tape Drive

Try this:
echo "engage scsi" > /proc/driver/cciss/cciss0

See how you go...my DAT72 is hot-swap internal in a DL380 G4 and the command
may need to be modified to suit your situation. Your mileage may differ.
