Red Hat also offers the system Administration Guide:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/en-US/System
_Administration_Guide_/ which might offer you some insight or at least
get you started.  There does not appear to be an updated version
available (yet) for RHEL5 but most information is generic enough to
still be current.
