Problem with network on machine.

I have a problem with RHEL 5.1 and kernel 2.6.18-53. Every time this
error has gone leaves the machine without a net.

pcscd: winscard.c: 219: SCardConnect () Reader E-Gate 0 0 Not Found

Any ideas?
Possible bug?

smartd is running.
