Yes ESG,

i learnt it the hard way...and managed to get it all up and running on my
rhel box. My list of
# rpm -qa|grep mysql

now reads as

mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-2.2
perl-DBD-mysql-4.008-1.el5.rf
mysql-server-5.0.45-7.el5
mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-1rhel4
libdbi-dbd-mysql-0.8.1a-1.2.2
mysql-gui-tools-5.0r12-1rhel4
mysql-5.0.45-7.el5
mysql-administrator-5.0r12-1rhel4

Looks like you needed a few more packages than i did. But this helped a lot.

Thanks everyone,
lonetwins
