redhat patches

Solaris issues new patch bundles every two weeks.
  There may not be any updated material, though, from the previous bundle.

>From my experience, Red Hat issues patches when they come available.
We configure our systems to check nightly and apply all the newly
available patches with the exception of kernel patches and a few
others.
We patch the kernel separately and reboot the servers after kernel patches.
(For us, this requires an official outage).

Red Hat does not issue quarterly patch bundles/clusters but does
release updates to the OS that include the patches.

Other probably have better information on the Red Hat patching.

Other than issuing patches, the Solaris and Red Hat paradigms are
quite different.
