bonding - failed to get speed of NIC ?

Does this happen while not doing NIC bonding?  It looks like a NIC problem not a nic-bonding issue, maybe a drive issue.  (emulex or Qlogic)

Subject: bonding - failed to get speed of NIC ?

I have a system setup with IP bonding.
The NIC cards are 1gig,
but sometimes, not always, I get this error ( below )
which makes the NICs into 100Mbps.
( observed on the RH 4 Update 4 system. )

Anybody know why ?
