2.6.18 is RHEL5, not Red Hat 2.X.

Still probably doesn't have createrpo by default, but...

And yes - you should register your RHEL install to use the red hat
packages.  If you're not going to do that, you should run CentOS
instead.

Since it appears your distro is Redhat 2.x it probably doesn't have
'createrepo' by default.
You'll need to pull if from somewhere.

I would highly recommend checking out Rob's recommendation. ;)
I think you will notice it looks familiar.

Ok, but wouldn't the createrepo command be part of the default software
install? I still have access to the dvd so I can probably get it from
there. Where does/should the createrepo command reside on the server?
/usr/sbin???
