udev timeout error on boot

Hi all,

Ever since I upgraded my system to RHEL 5.5 I get the following error
during boot:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting udev: Wait timeout.  Will continue in background.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------


The system will eventually boot and everything *appears* to work okay,
but it's painful waiting for the timeout.

What is this error telling me?  How can I correct the issue?
