Hei Mike,

Gparted supports the detection of LVM2 but not the resizing and copy . 
So, yes, point taken.  What we basically do is to dump the fs-es on disk 
and then dd them from the sysrescue image. Previous versions of Gparted 
created problem because they did not detect lvm2 pvs. Now it does detect 
LVM partitions, we can do the jobs for some partitions with Gparted and 
for LVMs with dd and other scripted commands (plenty of google examples)
