Erro in update of RHEL 5.4

I have questions, also. I was trying to do a CentOS yum update, and hit
rhel-i386-server-5/filelists                  |  14 MB     04:40
that first took *forever* (about half an hour ago for me, it was coming
through at 4Kb/sec, then it came through about 10 min ago at about
28K/sec, then it died, telling me:
Error: failed to retrieve repodata/filelists.xml.gz from rhel-i386-server-5
error was [Errno -1] Metadata file does not match checksum

I find this extremely worrisome. Not sure if that's RHEL or a CentOS
mirror, but....
