Yes, KVM is preferred over XEN; I don't think there is much difference in
functionality other than you don't have to boot to separate kernel like the
previous poster said.

KVM should be simply installed by do a yum install on it, also check to make
sure virt-manager and libvirtd are installed and running and you should be
good to go.
