Take a look at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg246264.html

It's a little dated, but will give you the general outlines of what you need to do.

Subject: How to proceed in 3270 terminal

Hi,

We are trying to install Linux on Mainframe architecture s/390.

We proceed as follows

1. Install Hercules on Windows.
Hercules is an emulator which emulate the s/390 architecture over windows OS.
2. Configure the terminal 3270 (IBM) and made connection to the hercules .
So now in terminal 3270 we will get the s/390 architecture.

Our purpose is to install the linux over this architecture.

We got 3270 terminal . Is there any document or any information regarding how to proceed over 3270 terminal or 3272 terminal?

Love,
Steephen
