Makes me woder if there are any subscribers? Since only listadmins can see how many subscribers there are I just wish to make a shout out and ask people to respond to this. Or maybe the list is so new it hasnt attracted any subscribers yet? I have a question regarding RHEL 3: Is there any simple way to make the ext3 fs run with "directory indexes"? I have it by default in FC2 as I can see by doing a # tune2fs -l /dev/hda3 | grep features wich reports dir_index amongs other things. Since only listadmins can see how many subscribers there are I just wish to make a shout out and ask people to respond to this. It's a small list. I started it because well, I am a professional sysadmin, and there have been a number of requests for such a list. My plan was to not announce it and let people find out about it by word of mouth. > Or maybe the list is so new it hasnt attracted any subscribers yet? I guess I can enable members to see the subscriber list :P > I have a question regarding RHEL 3: > Is there any simple way to make the ext3 fs run with "directory indexes"? htree is not currently included in rhel3. htree was actually present and enabled in the early beta releases of rhel3, but it proved "not ready for prime time" and was removed. As far as I am aware, there are currently no plans to include htree in any of the quarterly updates, but I think this is probably because there hasn't been enough customer demand to warrant the resources to merge such an invasive change. -- Matthew Galgoci System Administrator and Sr. Manager of Ruminants Red Hat, Inc 919.754.3700 x44155 From Carl.Boberg at nrm.se Fri Jun 11 19:15:34 2004 From: Carl.Boberg at nrm.se (Carl Boberg) Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2004 21:15:34 +0200 Subject: This list? Can you guys think > of anything else that might be causing this error This is a harmless error message. All that it indicates is that the version of mount that you have installed currently *might not* support all the features of the nfs version that is in the kernel. I bet if you rebuild and install the util-linux package from fedora the error will most certainly go away. -- Matthew Galgoci System Administrator and Sr. Manager of Ruminants Red Hat, Inc 919.754.3700 x44155 From mgalgoci at redhat.com Fri Jun 18 15:14:36 2004 From: mgalgoci at redhat.com (Matthew Galgoci) Date: Fri, 18 Jun 2004 11:14:36 -0400 (EDT) Subject: [list admistrivia] updated list info Message-ID: I've added text to the list page that expresses a few things I hold close to my heart regarding mailing list etiquette: http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-sysadmin-list "Please use your professional email address when subscribing. Do you get any errors when you add more ip aliases? How are you adding ip aliases? Is it an ubber cheap nic, such as an old realtek? I had a good 3com nic, and copied /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:0 - eth0:14, with the only changes being the DEVICE= to match the name of the script and the IPADDR= to the next available ip. I had no issues with that. Erik On Mon, 21 Jun 2004 10:59:11 -0700, Bhagyesh Ambekar wrote: > > HI, > > I want to configure multiple IP address for a Linux machine with 7.1 > version.
