NFS ERROR

Hi I have a Dell D800 Laptop with Redhat 9 using the 2.4.26 kernel.
When mounting a remote systems directory the following error comes up.

NFS: NFSv3 not supported
nfs warning: mount version older than kernel

I have looked on the net and the only thing that I have really found
is to upgrade the mount package and the am utils. Can you guys think
of anything else that might be causing this error
