They each have a pair of Opteron 240 CPUs (Socket 940). I'd like to put faster CPUs in them, and I see dual-core Socket 940 Opterons, but I can't find anything that says definatively if they'll work (one way or the other). I have seen some CPU upgrades that need a BIOS upgrade to match. If the BIOS isn't updated, would Linux be able see the extended features of the newer CPUs (dual-core, hardware virtualization extensions, etc.)? The motherboards are Rioworks HDAMA (and of course Rioworks sold off the motherboard business). -- Chris Adams Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble. During the installation, it didn't detect the drive and asked for driver disk to be placed on /dev/hda (The DVD drive). From HP site, all I could find is aarahci rpm for drivers. This apparently is not recognized. Does anyone have a site where I can download the latest RH EL 5 drivers ISO image or gzipped file? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So it's best to install a new RHEL 5 server, and migrate your data afterwards like mr Kevan recommends. In this case, you will want to do a fresh install. The reasons are myriad (you are going from 2.4.9? and old filesystem to 2.6.18 newer filesystem is one.. but the other is that partitions always seem to be too small when you upgrade that far). I would take a test system install RHEL-5.X and then see what it would take to bring the system working via backups. You may find that other items like cluster software etc will need updates to work. > Thanks > -- > Paulo Silva > Eurotux Inform?tica, S.A. > > -- > redhat-sysadmin-list mailing list > redhat-sysadmin-list at redhat.com > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-sysadmin-list > -- Stephen J Smoogen. -- BSD/GNU/Linux How far that little candle throws his beams!
