Hmm.  I did a 4->5 upgrade a year or so ago.  I'm pretty sure I did it
via the upgrade option instead of an "install-on-top".  

I know you can't go major releases by just doing a "yum update", but if
the DVD option doesn't support it, the text on the main grub page needs
to be reworked.
