I never succeeded to use wireless on my own EEEPC 900 either, can't
use the wireless chip on that machine either.

Make sure you have the whole certificate chain, up to the root
certificate in the file you use as the CA certificate. Also, the
instructions you mentioned produce PEM format files in the end.
Couldn't get it to run with PEM formatted cert/key, only with the
pkcs12 file directly. Screenshot is appended.
