[rhelv6-list] yum problems - perl

I should read the errors more carefully!

rpm -ql perl | grep local
contains
/usr/local/share/perl5 

and 

rpm -ql perl-libs | grep local
/usr/local/lib64/perl5

Should RedHat not leave /usr/local alone?

ps we have another version of perl installed from source in /usr/local.

We run yum -y update from a cron job but running manually in /root
(which is writeable) fails as well. It is only this update that has
failed of the many involved in 6.0 -> 6.1

Perhaps what Olle writes is correct, but I seem to remember similar
misleading errors when running the yum command from inside a non
writable directory (example inside mounted cdrom tree).
Eventually unmount the cdrom and cd to another directory if this is the
case....
