Good news! I was never able to get minicom to work, but I finally got 
"screen /dev/ttyS0 57600" to at least show me the POST messages from the 
unit. I was able to find the IP address and get logged in. I now have 
infiniband running in my little lab!

I used the pinout from 
http://goldfndr.home.mindspring.com/digitraveler.html.

Now to re-rack everything! <grimace>
