I keep seeing "ata5.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa0)" et. al. every few minutes. According to dmesg ata5 is the optical drive, which we don't use right now and haven't been using. The messages just started yesterday. We need to keep the system running for now, so i was wondering if there was a way to tell the kernel to stop caring about it? Effectively disable it, remove it from the list of devices? Thanks PS if anyone can decipher what is going on with the drive, kernel: ata5.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xa0) kernel: ata5.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen kernel: sr 4:0:0:0: CDB: Test Unit Ready: 00 00 00 00 00 00 kernel: ata5.00: cmd a0/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 17 kernel: res 51/20:03:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 Emask 0x5 (timeout) kernel: ata5.00: status: { DRDY ERR } kernel: ata5: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0) kernel: ata5: device not ready (errno=-16), forcing hardreset kernel: ata5: soft resetting link kernel: ata5.00: configured for PIO0 kernel: ata5: EH complete From alois at astro.ch Wed Jun 29 11:04:02 2016 From: alois at astro.ch (Alois Treindl) Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2016 13:04:02 +0200 Subject: [rhelv6-list] Access to redhat Software collection 2 for RHEL 6 user Message-ID: <8475a30b-952c-ad1e-e02f-f68c4d95266f@astro.ch> I am running Mediawiki on RHEL 6.8. I ran into this myself recently and enquired with their tech support and purchasing folks. It's not available as a separate add-on the way extended lifecycle support is. -- Jim Leinweber State Laboratory of Hygiene, University of Wisconsin - Madison phone +1 608 221 6281 PGP fp: D573 AF7D F484 EE2A F0B6 B7DB A870 7518 F87D A0D1 From jean-yves at lenhof.eu.org Wed Jun 29 15:53:30 2016 From: jean-yves at lenhof.eu.org (Jean-Yves LENHOF) Date: Wed, 29 Jun 2016 17:53:30 +0200 Subject: [rhelv6-list] Access to redhat Software collection 2 for RHEL 6 user In-Reply-To: <85D1BF618F890F429D8E358A30AF1C8A10E7E3@SLHMAIL2010.ad.slh.wisc.edu> References: <8475a30b-952c-ad1e-e02f-f68c4d95266f@astro.ch> <85D1BF618F890F429D8E358A30AF1C8A10E7E3@SLHMAIL2010.ad.slh.wisc.edu> Message-ID: <2629971f8080cb678d8ed9425e248844@lenhof.eu.org> Le 2016-06-29 16:58, Leinweber, James a ?crit?: >> It appears that Redhat Software Collections 2 contains php 5.6 but I >> seem not to be able to access it. >> >> My Redhat subscription is: >> Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, Self-support > > Unfortunately, Redhat only provides software collections access > to subscriptions at the "standard" or "premium" support > levels.
