[rhn-users] how to compile the kernel

I have Redhat AS 2.1 (2.4.9.e-.34smp) and I need to recompile the kernel to
install the hidden patch to fix the arp issue.  I have seen lots of things
on the web on how to compile the kernel but nothing specific to Redhat. 
Can someone outline the steps for me?
