[rhn-users] not getting assigned a base channel for rhn

I'm trying to register a dell precision 370n with RHEL WS 3.0
preinstalled with rhn.  I am getting the error message

Invalid Architecture and OS release combination (3WS, i686-redhat-linux).
Your system has been registered, but will not receive updates 
because it is not subscribed to a channel.

up2date fails because no base channel is assigned.  Anyone ever see
this before??
