[rhn-users] WAS 5.1 on RH AS 3

Hello All,
 
I have a Red Hat AS 3 box on a Dell 2650 and have installed Websphere 5.1.
I'm trying to avoid running WAS as root and would like to utilize port
80/443 as a standard system or application user. 
 
Has anyone been able to configure the new kernel to allow regular users to
bind to specific ports below 1024?
 
I know of several work arounds' "netfilter and iptables" but would prefer
not to use these.
