Hi,

does anybody know why all RedHat installations writes the hostname
into the file /etc/hosts
behind the line
   127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost myhost

For my understanding this will allways result in an error if 'myhost'
is also the registered
DNS hostname.
With the upper line the command 'hostname -f' will return
'localhost.localdomain' and
not as expected something like 'myhost.mycompany.com'.

The worst thing is, that this line is never displayed in the
graphical editors like 'neat' or
'redhat-config-network'

Thanks,
    Günter
