Subject: [rhn-users] up2date with non-RHN sources
I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this list, but
I'm at my wit's end :}
I'm running RHEL AS 4 and have been trying for some time
to install mplayer, which is not part of the RH distribution.
The package is available at dag's repository, and I've tried
using yum and up2date to grab it, without success. I should
say that up2date is working fine when connecting to the RHN.
Here's one of my recent attempts. I can access the URL with
my browser, but:
----
[]# up2date --serverUrl=http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/ mplayer
http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/ foo
http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/ foo
and so on
[]# tail /var/log/up2date
[Fri Nov 4 22:42:28 2005] up2date updating login info
[Fri Nov 4 22:42:28 2005] up2date logging into up2date server
[Fri Nov 4 22:45:37 2005] up2date A socket error occurred: (110,
'Connection timed out'), attempt #1
[Fri Nov 4 22:48:51 2005] up2date A socket error occurred: (110,
'Connection timed out'), attempt #2
[Fri Nov 4 22:52:05 2005] up2date A socket error occurred: (110,
'Connection timed out'), attempt #3
:
[Fri Nov 4 22:58:33 2005] up2date Error communicating with server. The
message was:
Connection timed out
----
Does anyone know what's going on here, or how I can further
troubleshoot it?
-Paul
