[rhn-users] HOST problem

I'm setting up a PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) software on two Linux
RedHat 9 boxes (CALCULUS1 and CALCULUS2) behind a router. I can ping and
rsh from one to another and vice-versa, but for some unknown reason I
can't use the host command.
If I start let say on box 1 (CALCULUS1) :

host localhost
returns correctly:
host localhost.ucdavis.edu has address 127.0.0.1

then

host 127.0.0.1
returns:
1.0.0.127.in-adr.arpa domaine name pointer localhost.ucdavis.edu

but when trying

host CALCULUS1
I get an error:
Host CALCULUS1 not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

The same thing happens on CALCULUS2

I checked all the important files:

etc/hosts on both machines contain the following info:

127.0.0.1 localhost.ucdavis.edu localhost
192.168.1.10 CALCULUS1.ucdavis.edu	CALCULUS1
192.168.1.102 CALCULUS2.ucdavis.edu	CALCULUS2

the etc/host.conf contain

order hosts

There is no way to make it work this way. If somebody can help it will be
very appreciated, since PVM have to recognize hosts with the host command.

Thanks

Marcin.
