Morning all, trying to setup a local (usb) printer, and we are getting
no output. I will try to provide as much detail as possible, but not
sure what else might be needed.

Hardware wise, it's a Dell Inspiron 300m (usb works fine as I am using
other usb devices.  lspci reveals the following;

00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM
(ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
        Subsystem: Dell: Unknown device 0150
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
        I/O ports at 1840 [size=32]
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM
(ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [UHCI])
        Subsystem: Dell: Unknown device 0150
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
        I/O ports at 1860 [size=32]
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-M) USB2
EHCI Controller (rev 01) (prog-if 20 [EHCI])
        Subsystem: Dell: Unknown device 0150
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 10
        Memory at e0100000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1K]
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

(one side is a double used for CD, the other side is a single (not sure
if it matters ) )

if I tail -f the messages file after I plug in the printer I get
"Sep 27 09:01:45 vader kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using
uhci_hcd and address 3
Sep 27 09:01:47 vader kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: Disabling reads
from problem bidirectional printer on usblp0

Sep 27 09:01:47 vader kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: v0.13: USB

print-conf gui show the queue, if I send a CUPS test print, say no that
nothing comes out, I get this
Sep/2005:09:03:22 -0400] Adding start banner page "none" to job 2.

(PID 4192) for job 2.
E [27/Sep/2005:09:03:24 -0400] PID 4191 stopped with status 1!
I [27/Sep/2005:09:03:24 -0400] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug"
to find out more.

Didn't see where that option is in the printer / printer queue settings
and I get no output, and it looks like nothing ever gets into the queue.
The Queue type says locally connected and the device is set
at /dev/usb/lp0

The printer is an HP 880C and using the default FC drivers.

As always, all replies are appreciated.

Lance
