[rhn-users] panel messed up after applying updates

I've just done a fresh install of RHEL5.  After applying Red Hat's 
critical updates, my top panel has gone blank, except for the clock.  
There are no menus, or icons that I have previously added to the panel 
(such as terminal, system monitor, services, firefox, etc.)  Does anyone 
have any suggestions?
